Since the dawn of history, our forefathers have carried the torch of knowledge and learning, believing that these to be among the most prominent traits of human civilization and a key driver of national progress and renaissance. Throughout history, the construction of schools has stood alongside the building of churches- beginning with the ancient schools of Nesaibin and Raha, and continuing into the modern era in our beloved homeland of Syria and the Syrian Al-Jazira region.
These schools have embraced and graduated hundreds of thousands of students over the past century, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or sect. They have been—and continue to be—a source of pride for Syria and the Syrian Al-Jazira region, with their impact felt across the world.
Following numerous meetings and consultations with the Education Authority of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, we are pleased to announce that church-run schools will continue teaching the Syrian Ministry of Education’s curriculum for the 2025–2026 academic year. Classes will officially resume on
Monday, November 3, 2025.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this agreement, especially General Mazloum Abdi, the esteemed Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, for his understanding of the sensitivity of the situation and the unique role of churches and their educational and social institutions.
We pray to Almighty God to inspire everyone to act in the best interest of the people, and to help achieve security and peace throughout our beloved country of Syria- so that we may all live in a homeland where love, justice and equality prevail among all its people. We also pray for the recognition of the human, heritage and cultural rights of all its communities, alongside the fulfillment of our duties as loyal citizens of a unified nation.
We further pray for the implementation of the March 10 Agreement between the Syrian state and the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, so that peace and security may prevail throughout our precious Syrian land.
We reiterate our deep thanks and full appreciation to everyone who worked toward achieving harmony and integration among all components of our region, and to strengthening the bonds of love and trust.
May God grant success to all.
